Brindavanam Reviews Go Positive, Fans Celebrate
Tollywood Box Office had gone dumb from quite a long time without a big hit. Much was expected from the big films that were released recently. But, they had failed to revive it. Moreover, the storm created by Rajinikanth, Aiswarya starrer ‘Robot’ appeared to be very difficult to control.
But, ‘Brindavanam’ released today, had changed the conditions. Tollywood Box Office started ringing from this morning. With the film getting good response, especially from family audience, collections are expected to go much higher.
The first romantic family entertainer from the mass hero is being received well by the audience. Junior NTR, at the film’s audio release said “Seeing the freshness in it, I had tried the character…. it’s your duty to make it a hit.” And now, NTR fans have done their job and made the film a big hit.
NTR’s onscreen presence and acting are highly appreciated. With no negative talk from any corner of Tollywood, the film has been unanimously declared a big hit.
Junior NTR aspired to do a lover boy and a family entertainer from quite a long time. But his ‘mass hero’ image prevented him from doing so. Moreover, there was a big suspicion whether audience, especially fans would accept him in such a role or not. But, Brindavanam erased all these. The film is a perfect family entertainer with both mass and class elements. Nandamuri fans, audience and critics are highly appreciating the role - ‘Kirsh’ played by Junior NTR in the film. With Brindavanam, the mass hero is now said to have come close to class audience.

The actress recently worked with Jr. NTR in ‘Ye Maya Chesave’ and she is full of praises for her co-star. Samantha considers Jr. NTR a complete package and loves working with the superstar.

Ileana confirmed for ‘3 Idiots’ remake
It’s a much debated topic in these parts as to whether Ileana would do the female lead role in the Tamil and Telugu remakes of Hindi blockbuster ‘3 Idiots’, both to be directed by Shankar.
And it has now been confirmed that the top actress of Tollywood would be a part of the project. Reliable sources say Ileana has signed on the dotted lines and is happy about working with Shankar.
“She is equally thrilled to share the screen space with Vijay in the Tamil version and with Mahesh Babu in Telugu. Remember ‘Pokkiri’ in which he acted opposite Mahesh is a runaway hit”, sources add.
Shankar, meanwhile, is expected to start the shooting in the middle of November. While Vijay is confirmed for Aamir Khan’s role in the Tamil version, Jeeva and Siddarth are expected to be roped in for the other two lead roles.
Rajinikanth Robot to Set New Box Office Records in Tollywood
The Rajini ‘Robot/Endhiran’ mania continues. It has been 10 days that the film has hit the screens, but the craze over it still remains the same as day 1.
It is already known that Robot/Endhiran has smashed several box office records. The film is now heading towards making a box office history in Tollywood. (Andhra Pradesh).
The most expensive film ever in the Indian Cinema, Robot/Endhiran was made on a huge budget of about 160 crores. The film’s Telugu rights have been sold for a whopping 27 crores. Thota Kanna Rao, the chief of Sri Krishna Traders (maize merchant from Rajahmundry) bought the film’s Telugu rights.
Experts from the Telugu film Industry opined that it was not a wise decision to spend 27 crores on a dubbed film. They added that even if the film becomes a sensation hit, it would be possibly difficult to recover the money.
Added to the aforesaid, two big-budget Telugu films of top heroes (Mahesh Babu and Junior NTR) were slated for release with a gap of just one week.
Contrary to all the above said, and despite the fact that it is a dubbed film, Robot/Endhiran has been getting overwhelming response from the Telugu audience. It is still running with packed houses.
Trade analyst said that the Telugu version of Robot/Endhiran grossed about 30 crores in the first week. If this is true, it will soon cross the record set by ‘Pokiri.’ Further, if the same craze continues, the film is likely to get pass the biggest blockbuster ‘Magadheera’. However, few trade analysts said that Robot/Endhiran may not touch records set by ‘Magadheera’ but would definitely cross ‘Pokiri.’
And now, with new records and benchmarks being set by the film, it will come as a big challenge for the Telugu filmmakers to come up with something better than Robot/Endhiran.

Indraneil’s the most goodlooking man: Barkha
The beautiful Barkha, Tollywood's latest investment, is against carrying on with her surname, Bisht. "I'll like to call myself Barkha Sengupta," clarifies Indraneil Sengupta's wifey.
Tollywood offers are coming to Barkha by the dozens, but one can't help wondering when she'll feature in a film opposite Indraneil. "Oh, I would love to do a film with him. Indraneil's the most goodlooking man in Tollywood and I have a feeling that the real-life chemistry is bound to translate on-screen," she says thoughtfully.
The actor will be in Kolkata during the Pujas as hubby dearest leaves for the Abu Dhabi premiere of his latest screen outing. "I'm shooting for "Ami Subhas Bolchhi". Working with Mithun Chakraborty is an experience in itself. To add to my joy, I'm playing a middle-class girl, breaking away from the glam doll image," she grins.
Barkha is all geared up for her first Bengali release, "Dui Prithibi". Ask the actor if she is getting the Friday jitters and she frankly confesses, "Of course, I am. I am sharing screen space with three superstars of Tollywood, Jeet, Dev and Koel. I am just a fresher here trying to make a mark besides well-established names in the industry." Does that mean, there was stiff competition and a struggle to shine bright amongst the recognized group, while shooting? "Not at all," refutes Barkha, adding, "My co-actors were extremely cordial and helped me to a great extent to get my shots right. We had a blast shooting in Italy."
The actor minces no words when it comes to praising Koel. "I love her for her simplicity. Never for a moment do you feel that she is a reigning star in Kolkata."
Now that the svelte siren had opened her Tollywood account, is she interested in more offers pouring in? "You bet I am! But the character has to have some meat and not come across as a prop in the context," Barkha clarifies.
Clarifying facts then, it is also true that Barkha's hubby dearest, Indraneil's, much-awaited film, "Autograph", is also scheduled for release the same day as "Dui Prithibi". Like a true made-for-each-other couple Barkha too wishes that Indraneil's film finds favour with the audience. She reasons, ""Autograph" is Indraneil's film whereas, in "Dui Prithibi", I just have a cameo. I agree though that it is a tough choice when it comes to selecting one film over the other. I would want both films to fare well. But if you insist on choosing one, then it has to be "Autograph"."
The proud wife continues, "Indraneil has done a remarkable job in Srijit's (Mukherji) film. In fact, his worth as and actor comes forth in this project. I have tagged along with him on the sets and I know how much he has given to this role. Let me also add that I loved Bumbada in the film."

Shah Rukh Khan Bothered By The Success Of Robot
The massive success of the film Robot has put the 'Bollywood Badshah' Shah Rukh Khan into a dilemma. The fact is that director Shankar narrated the story of 'Robot' to Shah Rukh Khan first. For certain reasons the project did not materialize. Thus the film is made with Rajnikanth and the rest is history. The Bollwood actors as well as the directors praise 'Robot' for its technical excellence. The latter aspect worries Shah Rukh Khan. He is presently acting in the film 'Ra.One'. This film is being made with the budget of a whopping amount. Shah Rukh Khan claims the film includes some amazing visual effects. But, the film is still in the production stage.
In the meantime, the viewers are affected by the Robot mania. Therefore, the visual effects in Shah Rukh Khan's film should win over that of Robot. Accordingly, Shah Rukh Khan is discussing with the director Anubhav Sinha. The film is slated for release in June 2010. Furthermore, Shah Rukh Khan is worried about Salman Khan's success rate in the recent times.

Ranbir is ready for direction: Neetu Singh
Yesteryears' actress Neetu Singh, who will be seen in a full-fledged role in the forthcoming movie "Do Dooni Chaar", is quite impressed with her star-son Ranbir's knowledge of camera angles and feels he is ready to direct a film.
"I'm amazed at his maturity as an actor! When I was his age, I knew zilch. I just did whatever came naturally to me. Ranbir knows about camera angles, shot-taking and frame compositions. He is ready for direction. And yes, I hope to be in his directorial debut with his father," said Neetu, 52.
Ranbir, in fact, had made it clear that whenever his mother returned to acting it would be as his mother.
"Like all sons, Ranbir is very possessive. So yes, he did want me to come back only with him. But when he heard I had his dad as a co-star in 'Do Dooni Char', he was all for it and absolutely invaluable in leading me back to the arclights."
Directed by Habib Faisal, "Do Dooni Chaar" is releasing Friday and Neetu has teamed up with her actor husband Rishi Kapoor in the movie.
But the actress, who made a guest appearance in "Love Aaj Kal", says it was Ranbir who helped her to be at ease in front of the camera.
"It is a bit like cycling and swimming. But more complicated for me. I was hesitant to say yes. But once I did, I was in a dilemma. It was Ranbir who helped me out. He showed me how to find my way into the character and them project it out on camera. He pointed out the best way to approach my role was to unwind, to let go. He showed me how to make friends with the camera," she said.
Not only that, Ranbir also briefed his petrified mother on how to get real on camera while staying ultra-cool.
"This was not an easy part for me. I had to play an ordinary middle-class housewife, and not just in a filmy way. The director Habib wanted me to grow my hair and colour it black, unvarnish my nails and wear three sets of clothes - three saris for when my character steps out and three housecoats for when she is home - throughout the film. And not just that. Those six pieces of clothing had to look worn by the time I was ready to face the camera!"
Neetu is blase about Ranbir's relationships
. "Ranbir is a very committed person. He knows his mind very clearly. He hasn't found the right person yet. The day he does, he will settle down with her immediately and forever. That I am confident about."
Coincidentally Neetu's comeback film "Do Dooni Char" is releasing just a week after Ranbir's "Anjaana Anjaani".
"In fact, the trailers for both films are being screened with 'Dabangg'. I felt so proud and happy. Yes, 'Do Dooni Char' is precious to me. But Ranbir's 'Anjaana Anjaani' is far more important," she said.
Ranbir, in fact, had made it clear that whenever his mother returned to acting it would be as his mother.

Coincidentally Neetu's comeback film "Do Dooni Char" is releasing just a week after Ranbir's "Anjaana Anjaani".
"In fact, the trailers for both films are being screened with 'Dabangg'. I felt so proud and happy. Yes, 'Do Dooni Char' is precious to me. But Ranbir's 'Anjaana Anjaani' is far more important," she said.

Tapasee denied visa
Tapasee Pannu was denied a visa for entry to Switzerland. The incident happened on Thursday when the actress flew to Mumbai from Hyderabad specifically for this purpose. Sources reveal that the Swiss consulate declined her application for visa citing that they did not have enough proof that she is an actress. She was asked, by the officials, to present paper cuttings or any other supporting documents to confirm her status as an actress.
Interestingly, Tapasee, who hails from Ludhiana, completed one year as an actress yesterday. She first acted in the Telugu movie Jhummandi Naadam. Currently, she is working with Dhanush in the movie Aadukalam which is directed by Vetrimaran of Pollathavan fame.
Robot faces opposition from Telugu producers
The Rajnikanth-Aishwarya Rai starrer Sci-fi movie Robot, billed as the most expensive Indian film ever made, is expected to storm theatres across the world when it premieres on October 1, but in Andhra Pradesh, it seems to have run into rough weather.
Telugu film producers, who fear that such multi-lingual films would hamper the local film industry, have called for imposition of restrictions on the number of prints of dubbed films like Robot in the state.
The expectations of Robot, directed by Shankar, doing well in the box office are so high that the dubbing rights for the Telugu version were bought for a whopping Rs 27 crore by a maize merchant from coastal Andhra, Thota Kanna Rao. The movie will also be released in Tamil and Hindi simultaneously.
The Telugu version is being released with a record 500 prints, which has triggered apprehensions among local producers who believe that such an invasion of dubbed films would adversely affect the original Telugu movies.
If dubbed films were allowed to swarm the market with such a large number of prints, there would be no theatre left for screening original Telugu films, they said, after discussing the issue at a meeting of Telugu Film Producers Council (TFPC).
Demanding a cap of 50 prints to be fixed for films dubbed from other languages, the producers argue that this would prevent local films from being gobbled up by dubbed movies. Similar restrictions should also be put in place for screening of Hollywood films which are quite popular among the cine-goers in Andhra.
Another fear that the Telugu film industry has is that there are a couple of big budget Telugu movies awaiting release in October, including Mahesh Babu-starrer Khaleja and Junior NTR's Brindavanam, both with budgets touching Rs 40 crore. The release of Robot, they believe, could have an adverse impact on the box office collections of these big budget films.
